3rd Annual St. Croix Johnny Cake Eating Championship and Raffle Sunday at Ziggy's Island Market

On Sunday, January 15, 2011, Ziggy’s Island Market on the East End Rd. of St. Croix will be sponsoring and hosting the 3^rd Annual St. Croix Johnny Cake Eating Championship and Raffle.  This is a charity event and this year's beneficiaries will be the Boys and Girls Club of the Virgin Islands and the St. Croix Foundation.  100% of all donations, raffle ticket sales, and contest entry fees will be donated to the aforementioned charities.  100% of profit from food sales and a portion of bar profits will also be donated. 

The event will kickoff at 2pm and will be highlighted by the Johnny Cake Eating Championship at 4pm.  Everyone is invited to come participate or watch St. Croix's finest eaters vie for the crown.  Entry in the contest is only $20 and all participants will receive a T-Shirt.  The winning eater will also receive a trophy, the title of St. Croix's Johnny Cake Eating Champion, and a Johnny Cake every day of 2012 courtesy of Ziggy's Market.  Those interested in entering the competition can register at Ziggy's Market any time prior to the event. 

In addition to the Johnny Cake Eating contest, the crowd will be entertained by DJ Don Juan, who will be MCing the event and highlighting the afternoon's musical entertainment. 

In addition to the festivities, food will be available from 2-4pm provided by  Ziggy's, Blue Water Terrace, The Cultured Pelican, Tutto Bene,  Harding & Son, Rhett Kimbrough, and several other local restaurants.  Everyone is encouraged to arrive early so they can get a taste of the delicious offerings.  There will also be drink specials all afternoon in Ziggy's Libation Station Bar. 

Finally, the raffle will end the afternoon's activities.  This year’s raffle features thousands of dollars in prizes donated by dozens of St. Croix's finest restaurants, stores, and other businesses.  Raffle tickets are only $3 each or 2/$5 and are available now at Ziggy’s.
